Clitheroe Fact File
Whalley Abbey (home to the Whalley Abbey Wedding Fayre) relocated from Cheshire in 1296, originally being the Cistercian Abbey of Stanlow. Work on the construction of the church started in 1330 and the Infirmary and Abbott's Lodging was completed around 1440.
To the north of Clitheroe stands the church of St. Magdalene. Most of the church was built in 1829 on the site of a much older structure, parts of which dated to Norman times.
